This is me, Marcella, and my beloved old doggie Phoenix.  I’ve got The Best Job in the world!  It’s pet minding. I get to meet, feed, water, play, give lots of fuss and make friends with your pets whilst you’re away.  I absolutely love it.  Every furry client is a pleasure to look after!  I’m always sad when the care period comes to an end and I have to say goodbye to my new furry friend.

I’ve been the Purple Penguin since Feb 2006.  It was my best friend’s suggestion that I started pet minding having cared for her guinea pigs many, many times whilst she was on holiday or away for a weekend. So all credit goes to her for such a fantastic idea and I will always be truly grateful.

I’ve had the privilege of looking after some real characters, from playful kittens to cats that have reached the impressive age of 19 years old, lots of very cute guinea pigs which are always highly entertaining, the occasional bunny rabbit and several dogs of various shapes and sizes. Phoenix is always very excited when I come home and he can smell animals on me.

I can’t wait to find out who I’m looking after next.

The Purple Penguin Pet Carer offers a friendly, reliable service tailored to each clients requirements.  This service can prove invaluable if you’re planning a holiday, a weekend away, a long day out or maybe you need a hospital stay and don’t want to burden your family and friends with taking care of your pets.  

Leaving your pets in their own environment is much less stressful for them than going into boarding kennels and it also means they get to keep their usual routine whilst receiving lots of care and attention from yours truly!

The added advantage to all of this is that I’m checking on your home daily, moving post out of sight, opening/closing curtains and leaving a light on in the evening, all of which gives your home the added security of looking like it’s still occupied.

So, what can I offer you?  The following ‘comes as standard’:-

Put your dustbins out on bin day.

Send text updates on your pet.

Maybe you do not have any animals but would still like someone to check on your home whilst you’re away to tidy away post, open and close curtains, water your garden etc.  I can do that too and it would be at a reduced rate.

Water plants inside and out.  Please be sure to leave me clear instructions!

Purchase fresh veggies or fruit if your pet requires them on a regular basis.  Also pick fresh grass and dandelions daily should your pet be of the guinea pig variety!

Switch your hot water back on for the day of your return to save energy.

Post Birthday cards or bills on a specific date if they need to be sent whilst you are away.

Once or twice daily visits (at either end of the day).

Feed your pets as instructed.  Water bowls will be replenished every visit.

Clean out litter trays, cages and runs as often as you require.

Post and any freebie leaflets/newspapers etc will be tidied out of sight.

Spend time with your pet and give him/her plenty of fuss and attention.

Fresh milk in your refrigerator for your return. Be sure to specify which sort on your form.
